Initial Reactions 1101
I've grown up fast and now find myself taking a College level class. I now have to come to class everyday with complete focus on the task ahead of me. I've realized that I can't just slide by and that I have to take responsibility for each action. I did not know coming into this class that my highschool teacher would transform into a College professor when the bell rings everyday at 1:24 p.m. until 3 p.m.
I would tell others preparing to enter College English 1101 to come prepared the first day of class and as when you enter the room be ready to give your maximum effort. You do not want to fall behind the other students because you will only feel more pressure on yourself. The class is filled with many open discussions and arguments which I believe benefits myself because I get to see other students points on the topic. My analysis of College English 1101 so far is that it was not what I expected, I came in thinking I would just do enough to get a good grade and get out. My thoughts now about just coming in and getting a good enough grade just to get by is to erase that thought. I want to transfer the grade that at the end of the class I can think to myself I earned this grade by doing the best I could. After recieving paper number one back today I realize I have to do more than put a days worth of work into the paper. I have to break some habits of using first and second person point of view, also have to follow the directions given to me in the assignment.
I have learned the first couple weeks the outline of this class for the rest of this semester and seen many different ways to approach it. Taking College English 1101 a day at a time and balancing my time outside of school with homework and extra curricular activities is what I think is going to make me the best student I can be.
